Deer Hunting

Our rut occurs in mid to late January and deer movement is at its peak during this time, although some of our best deer were taken opening weekend this year! Hunting takes place in woods and over green fields, with shots up to 250 yards. A flat-shooting, scoped rifle is recommended for this type of hunting.

There are over 100 metal ladder stands many with camouflage skirts and shooting rails as well as shooting houses for rainy days. We hunt rain or shine so bring your gear and waterproof boots. You are welcome to bring your own climber. Over 90 green fields are planted every season.

Your hunt begins with a 4:30 a.m. wake-up call. A light breakfast is provided at the lodge before being taken to your morning stand. After your morning hunt you'll return to the lodge to regroup and have lunch.

Unless you want to hunt all day, at about 11:30 you will be picked up and taken back to the lodge to fix a quick lunch.

After lunch, you'll be taken to your evening stand, typically overlooking a green field. You and hopefully your trophy, will be picked up at dark and transported back to the lodge. You'll have a chance to unwind by the fire and enjoy some delicious southern cooking.
